About us

Econowind B.V. is a true pioneer in sustainable maritime technology. The company provides innovative wind-assisted propulsion solutions for the shipping industry. Our mission is to reduce the environmental impact of maritime transport while simultaneously improving the operational efficiency of our customers.

As we continue to expand our market presence, we are seeking a dedicated Area Sales Manager to strengthen our team and help us unlock new opportunities in the maritime sector.

The Role

As Area Sales Manager, you will be part of our commercial team and take full responsibility for sales activities within your designated geographic region. You act as the primary contact for customers, ensuring the best possible client experience, while also representing Econowind at conferences, tradeshows, and industry events.

Given our entrepreneurial and fast-growing environment, your role is broad: from direct sales, developing new business and managing sales representatives, to actively building our brand presence in your market. This is a full-time position, suitable for ambitious maritime professionals.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own the commercial performance of your geographic region (order intake, pipeline development, and engagement with agents and clients).
  • Build, maintain, and grow long-term relationships with customers, agents, and partners.
  • Manage the full sales cycle: from structuring requests to follow-ups and closing deals.
  • Represent Econowind at international exhibitions, conventions, and industry events.
  • Provide management with market insights, competitive intelligence, and strategic advice.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing to maximize lead generation and brand visibility.
  • International travel will be a regular part of the role.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong affinity with the maritime industry (“maritime DNA”).
  • Higher education (HBO/WO), preferably in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Shipping.
  • 3–5 years of relevant commercial experience, ideally in a technical or maritime environment.
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, and commercially driven.
  • Excellent communicator with strong networking skills.
  • Persuasive, problem-solving, and independent, with a proven sales track record.

We offer

  • A role through which you can actively contribute to sustainable change.
  • A competitive salary with additional benefits.
  • Work in a forward-thinking team of professionals committed to revolutionizing sustainability in the maritime industry.
  • Flexibility to work (partially) from home.
  • Personal growth opportunities and room to learn, grow, and thrive further within an ambitious, rapidly-growing scale-up.
  • A team culture where your ideas, opinions, and contributions are valued at all levels.
