Your Work Context

As Deputy Security Officer, holding an individual security clearance, you will represent Jan De Nul in all security-related matters. Your responsibilities will range from managing access to and control of the construction site, conducting security briefings, ensuring the correct application of legislation, and providing continuous administrative follow-up. You will be based on-site in Evere. You are proficient in both Dutch and French.

Your Role

A selection of your responsibilities:

  • You provide security briefings during the onboarding of new employees.
  • You are responsible for escorting visitors on site.
  • You contribute to the development of procedures and working methods for the project site.
  • You ensure that safety regulations, quality standards, and project schedules are correctly implemented.
  • You act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day operations, follow-up activities, supervision, and the functioning of the Control Room.
  • You monitor compliance with legislation relating to employee safety and well-being, as well as the established Quality, Safety, Health and Environment (QSHE) policy, evaluate its effectiveness, and propose improvement measures where necessary.
  • You actively support the organization and delivery of toolbox meetings.
  • You monitor activities on site, including inspections of installations, preparation of material requirement lists, quality control, verification of inspection certificates, and commissioning activities. Any deficiencies identified are reported to the Quality Coordinator.
  • You ensure the continuous administrative follow-up of matters and documentation related to the Construction Security Plan.

What do you need?

  • You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social and Military Sciences, Criminology, Security Management, or a related field, and preferably have some professional experience within Defence, the Police, or the private security sector.
  • You have knowledge of risk management and possess strong administrative skills (drafting procedures, managing permits, etc.).
  • An excellent command of Dutch and a good working knowledge of French are essential.
  • You hold an individual security clearance (National Secret level).
  • You are results-oriented, proactive, and capable of setting priorities and planning your work effectively.
  • You have a practical, hands-on mentality.
  • You communicate effectively and possess a strong problem-solving mindset.
  • You will be based at the project site in the Brussels region.
