HR Business Partner (HRBP)

The role 

As an HR Business Partner (HRBP), you will act as a strategic partner for business leaders and managers, supporting organizational objectives through people-focused initiatives and HR expertise. You will contribute to building a high-performance culture by aligning HR strategies with business needs, supporting managers in people-related decisions, and driving employee engagement and organizational development initiatives. 

You will work closely with operational teams and management, providing guidance on HR matters while ensuring consistency, compliance and alignment with company values and objectives. 

 

Key accountabilities 

  • Partner with directors and the managers within their organizational structures to understand business priorities, operational challenges and team dynamics, translating them into effective HR strategies, people initiatives and organizational solutions. 

  • Provide guidance and support on employee relations topics, performance management, organizational changes and workforce planning.  

  • Support and coach managers in leadership development, team management and employee engagement initiatives.  

  • Coordinate and support organizational and people-related processes, including job description updates, organizational changes, disciplinary investigations and implementation of internal HR procedures and policies. 

  • Support recruitment activities for assigned business areas by partnering with managers and recruiters in defining and calibrating candidate profiles, participating in interviews and contributing to the selection and decision-making process. 

  • Analyze HR metrics and trends (turnover, absenteeism, engagement, headcount, performance indicators etc.) and provide recommendations to management.  

  • Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of HR policies, processes and organizational initiatives.  

  • Ensure compliance with Romanian labor legislation and internal company policies.  

  • Act as a trusted advisor for employees and managers, promoting a positive, collaborative and performance-oriented working environment.  

  • Support change management initiatives and organizational transformation projects.  

  • Collaborate closely with other HR functions to ensure consistent and high-quality HR support across the organization.  

 

Skills & experience 

  • University degree, preferably in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration or related fields.  

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner role.  

  • Solid knowledge of Romanian labor legislation and HR best practices.  

  • Experience working in dynamic, operational or industrial environments represents an advantage.  

  • Strong business understanding and ability to align HR initiatives with operational needs.  

  • Advanced English skills, both written and spoken.  

  • Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.  

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.  

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and drive initiatives forward.  

  • Proactive mindset, resilience and a collaborative approach.

Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DSC) has a worldwide network of 18 repair and conversion yards with drydocks ranging up to 420 x 80 metres. DSC yards have extensive experience – completing more than 1,300 projects every year, from normal drydockings for scheduled maintenance to damage repair, right up to extensive refit and conversion projects.

Services

Being active in the maritime industry demands continuous vessel reliability. For nearly all vessel types Damen offers a broad range of services, including maintenance, spare parts delivery, training and the transfer of shipbuilding know-how.

Components

Damen is also specialised in the design and production of various marine components including propeller nozzles, rudders, special towing winches, anchors, anchor chains and steel works.
