Damen Services is a team of 300 very dedicated, creative, entrepreneurial, and motivated maritime professionals who support their clients and each other. We interact directly with Damen customers around the world, helping to find solutions for challenging situations.

The role

As Account Manager, you are commercially responsible for developing and growing Damen Services’ business within your region. You manage a portfolio of customers across the Caribbean (including, among others, St. Vincent, Guyana, Suriname, and Martinique), and act as the driving force behind the development of service activities, from maintenance and spare parts to complex projects and long-term service agreements. You are not only responding to customer requests, you actively identify, shape and realize opportunities based on your understanding of the installed base, customer operations, and market dynamics.

In this role, you combine account management, business development, and technical affinity to create sustainable commercial success. You will be part of the Area Service Team Americas, working in an international environment with colleagues across regions and disciplines. This role requires regular travel within the region and the ability to work effectively across time zones and cultures. You operate with a high degree of ownership, combining entrepreneurship with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the single point of contact for customers, building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships
  • Drive commercial growth by proactively identifying, qualifying, and pursuing service opportunities
  • Develop and execute a regional commercial plan, based on market insights and installed base knowledge
  • Own and manage a healthy sales pipeline, ensuring transparency, quality, and predictability
  • Translate customer needs into commercially viable and executable service solutions
  • Expand recurring business through maintenance, upgrades, retrofits, and long-term service agreements
  • Ensure alignment between commercial commitments and execution by coordinating internally and monitoring project delivery
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (sales, operations, supply chain) to deliver value to customers

Skills & experience

We are looking for a commercially driven professional with ideally a technical foundation:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime, Mechanical Engineering, Shipbuilding, or similar
  • or a Business degree combined with relevant technical experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in account management, business development, or commercial roles in a technical environment
  • Proven ability to develop business, manage complex customer relationships, and close deals
  • Strong understanding of the combination of technical, operational, and commercial aspects of maritime services
  • Experience with international customers and market dynamics is a strong plus

You are:

  • Pragmatic and persuasive, with a solid personality and the ability to influence stakeholders at different levels, fitting within a dynamic, hands-on organization.
  • Commercially driven and opportunity-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership
  • Entrepreneurial: you take initiative, create momentum, and deliver results
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, international environment, including travel and time zone differences
  • Able to balance long-term relationship development with short-term results
  • Structured and disciplined in managing pipeline, commitments, and expectations
  • Clear communicator in English, Dutch is a plus

Services

Being active in the maritime industry demands continuous vessel reliability. For nearly all vessel types Damen offers a broad range of services, including maintenance, spare parts delivery, training and the transfer of shipbuilding know-how.

Components

Damen is also specialised in the design and production of various marine components including propeller nozzles, rudders, special towing winches, anchors, anchor chains and steel works.
