As Proposal Engineer, you will make a positive contribution to the Functional Discipline Engineering within Royal IHC. Part of the FD is the Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) department of Royal IHC helps customers to make adaptations and upgrades to integrated equipment, systems, and structures. This includes the engineering of modifications, renovations, and improvements to equipment and systems.

Life Cycle Engineering is a service activity for operational dredging or offshore vessels comprising three main aspects:

  • analyses and studies – from feasibility studies to workability analyses

  • engineering and design – from concept engineering to production drawings

  • naval architecture – from stability guidance booklets to lightweight checks.

Within LCE we are convinced that it is very important that the Proposal Engineer is engaged throughout the entire flow, starting at lead generation up to after sales. The power of LCE is to use all the knowledge and craftsmanship already available in the royal IHC group. Using legacy data and knowledge holders you generate solutions and provide these to our (internal) customers. Your engagement starts by joining and supporting the sales colleagues during the lead generation process. When bidding for conversion and renovation projects you will supply the cost estimation and quotation for the engineering part of the EPCI contract. In case of engineering only tenders you will manage the complete proposal process.

For all the orders that we win, you will act as a contact person to the client and help the project manager with defining change orders. At the end of the order you will be involved in the lessons learned session which we can implement in your next quotation.

As a Proposal Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Orchestrate the process from tender qualification to (hardware) after sales.

  • Assist sales/proposal managers with engineering quotations.

  • Help clients to define their requests.

  • Create concepts to solve the challenges of our clients.

  • Internal stakeholder management to get information available to support your proposal.

  • Create costs calculations and corresponding quotations.

  • Contribute to our social media visibility.

Your Profile

To be eligible for the position of Proposal Engineer, you must have the following:

  • Technical bachelor or master degree in, for example, Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture.

  • Relevant work experience gained in a similar position in relevant industries.

  • Experience with 3D CAD software and willing to learn complex technical systems available onboard vessels.

  • Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

  • A proactive, creative and flexible attitude.

  • Excellent communication English language skills and preferably but not necessarily Dutch.
