About us

Damen Offshore & Specialized Vessels (OSV) designs and builds a wide range of highly specialized vessels for offshore, energy and maritime clients worldwide. Our projects are technically advanced, international in scope and executed by multidisciplinary teams. Strong financial control is essential to successfully deliver these projects.

The role

As Project Controller, you are responsible for the financial control of a portfolio of shipbuilding projects within OSV. You closely monitor project performance, challenge forecasts, and analyze margin and cash flow development. With your financial insights, you actively support Project Managers in steering projects and making well-informed decisions.

You will typically work on medium-sized or moderately complex projects, while also supporting senior Project Controllers on larger or higher-risk projects when required. This makes the role well suited for a finance professional with a solid foundation who wants to grow further in a project-based, technical and international environment.

You are part of the Finance & Control department, where Project Control plays a key role in understanding project performance, improving forecast quality and strengthening decision-making across the business.

Key accountabilities

  • Monitor and analyze project budgets, forecasts, margins, risks and cash flow
  • Prepare periodic project reports, variance analyses and forecast updates
  • Identify deviations in cost, planning, scope and financial results and explain root causes
  • Support Project Managers with financial insights, scenario analyses and decision support
  • Challenge project assumptions and actively contribute to forecast quality
  • Ensure correct, timely and compliant financial administration in line with Damen and OSV standards
  • Maintain project control files, reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Support senior Project Controllers on large or complex projects where required
  • Contribute to improvements in project control processes, tools and reporting structures

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field
  • Approximately 3–6 years of relevant experience in controlling, finance, audit, consultancy or project administration
  • Experience in a project-driven environment is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate financial data into practical business insight
  • Comfortable working with project budgets, forecasts, margins and cash flow analyses
  • Proactive, accurate and able to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Able to challenge constructively and communicate clearly
  • Solid Excel skills and experience with financial systems
  • Good command of English; Dutch is an advantage

What we offer

  • A key financial role within complex and technically challenging shipbuilding projects
  • An international working environment within a leading maritime organization
  • Close collaboration with Project Managers and senior finance professionals
  • Strong development and growth opportunities within Damen
  • Competitive salary and attractive secondary employment conditions
