Your Work Context

Are you a Technical Support Engineer Site with a passion for ICT infrastructure and international projects? At Jan De Nul Group, headquartered in Aalst (Belgium), you will help build, maintain, and optimize complex IT environments onboard vessels, at construction sites, and in our offices worldwide. In this role, you combine broad ICT expertise with hands-on support for server, network, and virtualization environments, contributing to stable and high-performing systems that power our global operations.

Your Role

The internal ICT Technical Support Engineering team is responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting the entire IT infrastructure onboard the ships, at the yards, and in the offices.

As a Technical Support Engineer Site, you have broad ICT knowledge and a strong interest in everything related to ICT. You are responsible for:

  • Executing infrastructure projects from start to finish according to established methods and procedures
  • Preparing, configuring, installing, and maintaining the ICT infrastructure according to agreed standards
  • Managing server hardware, server and application virtualization, and network infrastructure
  • Contributing to a high-performing and stable ICT environment

You have experience or want to further expand your knowledge in switches, routers, firewalls, storage, server and client hardware, WiFi systems, virtualization (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V), and operating systems such as Windows 11, Windows Server, and Linux. Additionally, you work with applications like PRTG, Veeam, Symantec ITMS, and MS Office, and manage services such as DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, print servers, and file sharing.

You will also come into contact with less common technologies such as WiFi mesh systems between our ships and satellite communication.

You will receive on-the-job training and be guided by experienced colleagues who will help you find your way in this challenging and exciting ICT environment.

What do you need?

You hold a bachelor’s degree in an ICT-related field. You are customer-oriented, approachable, helpful, and you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves. You are creative in finding solutions and strive for a high level of quality. You can maintain the necessary discretion and are flexible with regard to time and location.

You want to combine all this with the unknown and adventurous by traveling abroad regularly to support our projects and ships worldwide.
