What to expect

You will play a key role in managing upstream supply chain operations, including procurement planning, logistics,- and supplier coordination, to support our company’s strategic objectives and enhance supply chain efficiency. Your main responsibilities are executing day-to-day procurement activities, including order placement, expediting, and evaluations.

  • Procurement Planning:

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including procurement, operations, and demand planning teams, to develop procurement plans and strategies aligned with business requirements and objectives.

    • Collaborate with fleet management teams to align procurement activities with demand forecasts and sailing schedules, and findings of market research.

    • Collaborate with inventory management teams to monitor stock levels, track usage patterns, and coordinate replenishment orders.

  • Supply Chain Optimization:

    • Identify opportunities to optimize supply chain processes, reduce lead times, and improve operational efficiency.

    • Analyse supply chain network design, transportation routes, and procurement planning practices to streamline workflows and minimize costs.

    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain performance and fleet management satisfaction.

  • Logistics Coordination:

    • Ensure scheduled replenishments for your assigned ships are complete, on-time in the right location, and run smoothly, minimizing used modalities and resources onboard.

    • Coordinate transportation and logistics activities to support inbound and outbound shipments of raw materials, components, and finished goods.

    • Work closely with third-party logistics provider, carriers, and freight forwarders to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation solutions.

  • Ordering and Evaluating:

    • Receive requisitions from internal stakeholders and place orders with approved suppliers in accordance with established procurement policies and procedures.

    • Verify order specifications, pricing, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual terms and conditions.

    • Communicate with suppliers to confirm order details, resolve issues, and track order status.

  • Price Negotiation:

    • Negotiate pricing, discounts, and terms with suppliers to obtain the best value for the company.

    • Leverage volume discounts, blanket purchase agreements, and other cost-saving opportunities to reduce procurement costs and achieve savings targets.

  • Process and Contract Adherence:

    • Adhere to standardized procurement processes and workflows to ensure consistency and efficiency in day-to-day operations.

    • Ensure compliance with contractual agreements, pricing schedules, and procurement policies.

    • Follow established procedures for order placement, approval routing, and documentation management.

    • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve operational effectiveness.

What we are looking for

  • You are currently living in the Netherlands, preferably nearby our office in Rotterdam.

  • You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a procurement role, preferably in the maritime or logistics industry.

  • You have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or similar.

  • You have excellent English communication skills.

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of supply chain and procurement principles, processes, and best practices in ordering, expediting and evaluating.

  • Analytical skills and proficiency in data-driven decision-making.

  • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify problems, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
