Damen Shiprepair Curaçao (DSCu) is a growing company in the Caribbean owned by the Damen Shipyards Group. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as an Estimator.
THE ROLE
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for ship repair projects, working closely with Commercial team, engineers, and clients to ensure all financial aspects of projects are effectively managed.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
•Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for ship repair projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
•Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand project scope and requirements.
•Gather and evaluate data from various sources, including historical data, supplier quotes, and market trends, to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
•Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to validate cost estimates and ensure alignment with project objectives.
•Prepare and present cost estimation reports and summaries for review by senior Estimator and clients.
•Monitor and update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle, making adjustments as necessary to reflect changes in scope or market conditions.
•Assist in the identification and management of potential financial risks associated with project estimates.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Key qualifications and skills for this role include:
•Bachelor degree in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering.
•At least two (2) years of relevant experience and thorough knowledge of ship repair and cost calculations.
•Substantive knowledge of and experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel.
•Proficient in spoken and written English; knowledge of Dutch, Spanish, and Papiamentu is an advantage.
•Fit and readiness to visit the ongoing works on a daily basis for accurate assessment of the process and related costs.

Shiprepair & conversion
Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DSC) has a worldwide network of 18 repair and conversion yards with drydocks ranging up to 420 x 80 metres. DSC yards have extensive experience – completing more than 1,300 projects every year, from normal drydockings for scheduled maintenance to damage repair, right up to extensive refit and conversion projects.
Services
Being active in the maritime industry demands continuous vessel reliability. For nearly all vessel types Damen offers a broad range of services, including maintenance, spare parts delivery, training and the transfer of shipbuilding know-how.
Components
Damen is also specialised in the design and production of various marine components including propeller nozzles, rudders, special towing winches, anchors, anchor chains and steel works.
