SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

At Mammoet, safety isn’t a support function, it’s how we work. We’re looking for an experienced, safety‑driven SHE‑Q Advisor to join our team in the Fort McMurray region. This hands‑on role is ideal for someone who leads by example, communicates with confidence, and motivates teams to work safely every shift, every task.

Based full‑time at the Imperial Oil Kearl site, you’ll help uphold Mammoet’s industry‑leading safety reputation while actively shaping a strong, positive safety culture in the field. Following site onboarding and training, the role operates on a 14‑on / 14‑off rotation, supporting critical industrial operations where safety leadership makes a real difference. This will be a permanent, full-time position operating out of our Kearl Lake, Imperial Oil site in Fort McMurray.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Support the design, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Mammoet’s SHE‑Q programs, ensuring alignment with company standards, policies, and business objectives
  • Act as a subject matter resource for project teams, supervision, and operations - leading by positive, visible example in the field
  • Ensure compliance with current Occupational Health & Safety legislation and client requirements
  • Assist in the development and review of Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs)
  • Participate in and facilitate SHE‑Q meetings, audits, inspections, and proactive field engagements
  • Lead and support incident investigations, including research, analysis, reporting, and corrective action development
  • Coach and mentor employees at all levels on Mammoet’s values, safety expectations, and core processes
  • Independently assess situations, make timely decisions, and positively influence safe behaviors
  • Coordinate and support internal and external safety programs, including Emergency Response, Safety Audits, and Mammoet Academy orientations

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Education

  • High School Diploma (minimum requirement)
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) – valid and in good standing
  • Occupational Health & Safety Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Experience

  • Turnaround experience is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on field safety experience
  • Experience working in live industrial environments (refineries, plants, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of mobile equipment; crane exposure is a strong asset
  • Proven experience conducting incident investigations and completing detailed investigation reports
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize in fast-paced environments
  • Highly accountable and comfortable working with minimal supervision
  • Ability to create and maintain organized electronic and paper filing systems
  • Familiarity with professional driver and equipment operator logbooks is an asset
  • Confident, professional communicator, approachable, articulate, and comfortable engaging directly with clients
  • Ability to speak confidently in front of groups is considered an asset
