Project Manager

Damen

Gorinchem
Full Time
Posted on: March 30 2026

We offer you an Ocean of Possibilities. Join our family.

Think ship design is routine? Think again.

At Damen Engineering Gdańsk, we work on some of the most exciting projects on the market. Drone carriers? We’ve got them. Tugs? Of course. From barges and offshore service vessels like CSOVs and walk-to-work ships, all the way to advanced navy platforms — this is where the future of shipbuilding is shaped.

As Damen Engineering Gdańsk we are set up to be involved into the engineering process from the moment when an idea is generated by the client to the vessel delivery. We are responsible for transforming the initial design into a complete and practicable engineering package.

We offer you an Ocean of Possibilities. Are you ready to try?

About the Project Manager role:

We’re looking for a Project Manager who sees the vessel as a complete, living system — not just a collection of separate parts. Project Manager at Damen Engineering Gdańsk understands not only how to technically design a vessel, but approaches engineering and shipbuilding with genuine passion and curiosity. Someone who knows that maritime projects are complex not only from an engineering perspective, but also because they involve people, relationships and collaboration.

You’ll be a great fit if you combine broad knowledge of shipbuilding with hands‑on experience in managing maritime projects, and if you can turn this expertise into effective, trust‑based cooperation with others.

If you thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy working with experts from various fields and have a natural ability to connect people and ideas — you’ll feel at home here. Passion, ownership and a proactive mindset are qualities we value just as much as technical knowledge.

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with maritime experience background, someone who will shape projects that have real impact on the future of maritime engineering. Someone who will lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate key project phases and ensure alignment with technical, commercial and safety requirements. The real manager who brings clarity where things get complex, inspires collaboration and drives projects forward with confidence and empathy.

Key accountabilities

  • Gather and analyze all data and information required for effective project execution in line with scope, schedule, and the project charter. Develop, review, and refine the project scope, budget, and timeline. Assign project tasks and monitor their timely and accurate completion. Track and record project‑related working hours.
  • Maintain clear and consistent project communication across established channels. Engage and manage project stakeholders at all levels. Prepare professional project reports in line with organizational requirements. Create, review, and update project documentation, including contracts and orders.
  • Select, allocate, and plan the workload and availability of project team members. Organize, guide, and oversee the daily work of the project team.
  • Lead project activities within the approved scope, timeline, and budget. Coordinate project planning with subcontractors and internal departments to ensure alignment.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks proactively. Implement and monitor project changes in accordance with change‑management procedures.
  • Ensure quality standards are met throughout all project phases.
  • Coordinate project activities with other organizational units to ensure smooth collaboration.

Skills & experience

  • Education & Professional Background: Master’s degree in a technical engineering field (preferred: Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related), supported by additional training in project management.
  • Experience: min. 7 years in an engineering project environment, including at least 3 years as a Project Manager leading complex, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Leadership & Project Management Experience: Proven experience in managing project teams, including interdisciplinary collaboration with subcontractors, clients, classification societies, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong project management competencies: planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling projects according to recognized PM methodologies (scope, time, budget, risk, communication, quality, documentation). Recognized project management certification (PMI / IPMA).
  • Technical & Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of classification rules, industry and contractual standards, cooperation with certification bodies, and quality requirements for technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with engineering and project tools: MS Project, Power BI, Microsoft Office, WORKDAY, time‑tracking and project reporting systems; awareness of CAD/CAE environments used in vessel design.
  • Communication & Organizational Skills: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, effective communication with teams, clients, and stakeholders. Ability to lead project meetings, present results clearly, and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Analytical & Decision‑Making Skills: Ability to analyze project data (time, cost, quality), assess risks, and make informed operational decisions based on project information, reports, and team insights.
  • Language Skills: English proficiency at minimum C1 level. Polish minimum B2 level is a must.

What we offer

  • Participation in international prestigious engineering projects with a high level of complexity. Our portfolio is full of projects you won’t find anywhere else.
  • Opportunities for professional and technical development in an international environment.
  • Work from Alchemia's modern office in Gdańsk with one million dollar view as well as the option for home office if you need some flexibility (3:2 days a week).
  • Medical care by Medicover and life insurance. Cafeteria.
  • Bonus: up to 50% extra salary once per year as motivation to get rest and have fun while enjoying annual leave.
  • By gaining the 5+ year experience at Damen Engineering Gdańsk we will support your PPK by an extra employer’s founds.
