About Us:

We are Cargo Vessels, a specialized product group with its own entity within Damen Shipyards.
From our offices in Gorinchem and Drachten, we design innovative cargo ships that are built at our shipyards in China and Vietnam.

Our portfolio includes the Damen Combi Coasters and Combi Freighters – robust and versatile vessels for shortsea and intercontinental transport.
Over the past year, we proudly delivered 12 cargo ships.
As part of the Damen Group, we contribute to sustainable and efficient maritime solutions worldwide.

The Role:
Within the Cargo Vessels team, we are seeking a professional to focus on project support, primarily in scheduling and planning. This role involves close collaboration with Project Management, Supply Chain, and Engineering. The primary objective is to establish, maintain, monitor, and, if necessary, adjust all relevant planning schedules in our ERP systems like IFS and Primavera for all newbuilding projects, ensuring alignment with the schedules of production yards and, where applicable, our partners and co-makers.

Additionally, the role includes general support activities such as data and document management, requiring a proactive and solution-oriented approach.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Creating a baseline planning for all project activities based on the master planning and hour budget in close contact with project managers, team leaders, and subcontractors.
  • Developing integrated project plans and logistic schedules (work breakdown structures).
  • Maintaining and analyzing the operational planning.
  • Analyzing and identifying bottlenecks in the (overall) planning and developing and proposing improvements/solutions.
  • Providing progress status overviews and preparing hour forecast information.
  • Preparing project information for multi-projects planning (portfolio).
  • Analyzing and planning workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment/workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Providing timely and accurate planning-related responses to internal customers.

    • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing or industrial processes
    • Solid understanding of project management phases
    • Experience with ERP systems like IFS and planning tools like Primavera
    • Affinity with the shipbuilding industry is a plus
    • Strong team spirit, organizational skills, and a results-driven mindset
    • Availability: 32–40 hours per week

    Components

    Damen is also specialised in the design and production of various marine components including propeller nozzles, rudders, special towing winches, anchors, anchor chains and steel works.
