The role
As Site Manager in Galatz, you are responsible for the full execution of naval shipbuilding projects at the yard. You lead the site team and ensure vessels are delivered on time, within budget, and according to the highest quality standards. You take ownership of daily operations and translate project objectives into a structured and controlled production environment. This role is based in Galatz and follows a 3-weeks-on / 1-week-off rotation schedule.

Operating in an international, multi-site environment, you align planning, resources, and stakeholders to keep complex production processes on track. You act as the key point of contact on site, driving performance, ensuring compliance, and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities
As Site Manager your key responsibilities will include:

Leading all manufacturing activities at the yard, ensuring delivery within scope, quality, budget, and timelines
Developing and executing production plans while monitoring progress against targets
Managing and optimizing the use of resources, including workforce, equipment, and facilities
Leading and structuring site teams, ensuring the right capabilities and performance levels
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to align planning and execution
Ensuring compliance with all applicable standards, requirements, and HSSEQ policies
Representing Damen Naval towards customers and key stakeholders on site

Skills & experience
To excel as Site Manager, you need to have:

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Maritime Engineering, Naval Architecture, or another technical field
Experience in shipbuilding or a comparable complex manufacturing environment
Proven experience in leading production teams within project-based environments
Strong planning and organizational skills in complex, multi-stakeholder settings
A results-driven mindset with the ability to make decisions under pressure
Strong leadership and communication skills
Good command of English and Dutch and willingness to work internationally

Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DSC) has a worldwide network of 18 repair and conversion yards with drydocks ranging up to 420 x 80 metres. DSC yards have extensive experience – completing more than 1,300 projects every year, from normal drydockings for scheduled maintenance to damage repair, right up to extensive refit and conversion projects.

Services

Being active in the maritime industry demands continuous vessel reliability. For nearly all vessel types Damen offers a broad range of services, including maintenance, spare parts delivery, training and the transfer of shipbuilding know-how.

Components

Damen is also specialised in the design and production of various marine components including propeller nozzles, rudders, special towing winches, anchors, anchor chains and steel works.
